The Greenville News ran an article on Senator DeMint this morning. Here is a key quote from Senator DeMint talking about what he will do after the November elections:
“People in South Carolina will see me lead at home and up here, whether or not I seek any elected leadership,” DeMint told The News, adding, “I’ve found that I can be much more effective stopping these bills working independently and with a few other conservatives, but you’ll see after this election. There will probably be 10 or 15 new conservatives in the Senate, and then what happens after that we’ll just have to wait and see.”
Senator DeMint also serves as the Chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, a caucus of conservative U.S Senators. You can read the rest of story at the Greenville News.

The Senators from SC should stick together! The vote of Senator Graham supporting Elena Kagan is a DISGRACE to the foundations of our country: Constitution, Declaration of Independence (about which she showed NO KNOWLEDGE), and the Bill of Rights.
As a concerned citizen of the United States, I oppose the nomination of Elena Kagan on three principled fronts. I urge you to vote against the nomination of Elena Kagan. More than 40% (and climbing) of the voters are against her nomination. The votes by the Senate will be published by the media, as usual. Please let your constituents know that you support their positions, that you TRULY REPRESENT YOUR CONSTITUENTS!
Kagan SUPPORTS JUDICIAL ACTIVISM. Kagan agreed with a statement that the Constitution was “defective” and mirrors President Obama’s world-view that we should have an “evolving” Constitution. Such judicial activism undermines our Constitution and the rule of law.
Kagan’s VIEWS are ANTI-LIFE and ANTI-FAMILY. Based on her stated views, if confirmed she would likely rule to repeal the “Defense of Marriage Act: and “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” while supporting special “same-sex” workplace rights that undermine the family. Kagan has also been a loyal soldier of the pro-abortion movement who supports even partial-birth abortion with taxpayer funding of all abortions.
Kagan WILL IMPOSE HER LIBERAL IDEOLOGY. Her writings demonstrate that Kagan will impose her own social ideologies through her rulings rather than follow an impartial interpretation of the Constitution. For example, Kagan stated in her Oxford thesis her belief that it is acceptable for Supreme Court justices to “mold and steer the law in order to promote certain ethical values and achieve certain social ends.”
Furthermore, I urge you two Senators from SC to adhere to Constitutional standards while vetting Elena Kagan. I am convinced that doing so will expose Kagan and her desire to use the Court to bring about social change. This fact should disqualify her to serve as the next justice of the Supreme Court without question!
Many of my friends, your constituents in SC will express their profound disappointment in November if you support the nomination of Elena Kagan!
Thank you.

MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THE FOLKS IN SOUTH CAROLINA HAVE AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE FROM THAT OF MR. GRAHAM. HE IS A TRAITOR TO HIS CONSTITUENTS AND A DISGRACE TO OUR STATE. THERE ARE SOME THINGS TO WHCH THERE IS NO COMPROMISE. YOU, PLEASE STAY THE COURSE AND KEEP YOUR HEART OPEN TO THE WORD OF GOD.

From your mouth to God’s ear. I’m praying every day that there will be many more conservatives in both the Sanate and the House after the election in November and that you and they can help put this country back on the right track. I’m also encouraging every one I kow to get informed, and vote.
I’m not worried about you voting for Ms. Kagan for the Suprene Court… I believe you know what is right and that she is not what this country needs.

WoW Dr. Doane! Well said. I hope you sent your letter to Sen. Graham!! He is letting all of us down miserably. When does he come up for re-election? Anyone know? Haven’t been in SC very long, but seems he has been in office FOREVER and is a disgrace to this beautiful State and his constituants (spell?). Thank you Sen. DeMint for your stand on conservative issues and this oppurtunity.
PS Could you add spell check on your site? I am terrible speller…sorry
Enclosed is a script (and audio link) of a commentary running today on WMUU-FM (94.5) at 11:30AM and 5:15PM as it does on MWF. But the main thing is to demonstrate what I think people in SC believe about you and what’s happening in Congress.
You know Barbara and I have supported you since you ran for Congress and we still do. We appreciate your principled and consistent stand for Constituional government. Thanks for the dilligence and effort you go to the extra effort and put in for America and South Carolinians. Keep up the good work.
Senator, you are right in your comment that there will be more conservatives in Washington after November, not just in Washington, but in SC. Then you guys who are trying to represent the American people honestly can stand together!!! I just hope that people will not be so angry that they do a general turnover of everyone. I keep hearing that, but I tell them, “watch how the representatives are voting,” if they vote with common sense, then lets keep them in. However, if they continually vote to satisfy their own agenda, instead of as the people want them too, let’s move them on out to pasture. I do wonder “what was Mr. Graham thinking? that vote was so unlike him. I wonder what they threatened him with?”
