On that Death Tax vote, it appears that the Democrats are “the party of NO.”

    Thanks Senator,

Please begin a movement to remove Lindsey Graham from the Senate Judiciary Committee. This guy is certainly part of the problem.

Thanks, Senator DeMint, for your efforts to keep the taxes down. It’s easy to propose lower taxes; most of us love the idea. But what I really want to see is an all-out effort to reduce spending. Can we hear from any politician who has the courage to tell us what he or she proposes stopping? That’s a tough one! But the officeholder who shows that courage will get my vote every time.

I appreciate you because you share my values. I also appreciate you because you are consistent. I wish I could say that about my other SC Senator.

Thanks Senator for sticking up for us! 55% is outrageous no matter who you are or how much or how little you have. Simply outrageous.

I’m proud to have supported Your rise to national prominance because of Your Conservative Principles. Unfortunately, the other half of Our states representation needs a little work. You keep up the good work instilling Conservative values & helping guide others to vote for the right candidates & We the voters of S.C. will work on L.G.

    Thanks Jim,
You are definitely for US!!! I only wish that our other Senator had some fortitude and was less of a Democrat liberal thinker on many issues. His attitude is one of just joining the reigning party.
    Keep fighting.

Thank you Senator for all you do. I to wish someone in DC would propose to cut spending.
Lets start with the Dept. Of Energy and Dept. of Ed.
We need more than balance the budget we need a 25% surplus.
Sorry I seem so negative but look at our Country.
    Thanks again

Senator: Politicians say ” do this or that” and it will “create” so many “new Jobs”. Please explain the connection between the death tax and job creation.

Starting a business is risky. There has to be a need and there needs to be customers who can pay. Each and every tax raises the cost of running the business and that has to be passed on to the customer. I would like a nice car – but I can only afford a cheap car – so I own a cheap car, nice enough, but I’d have nicer if I could afford it, or if the price of the ‘cheap’ one and the ‘nice’ one were the same (another way to say the same thing). When my brother was murdered and I inherited some money he left for me, I wound up facing this death tax – his estate was taxed again – even though he had paid all his taxes – for all his possessions, all his life, just because he died, and the worth of his possessions was above a certain $ figure, it was taxed again – and I paid that tax through the inheritance process. Then a third tax of sorts was added because my income went up abnormally for that time, I was in a higher tax bracket and paid not only the tax for that inheritance as ‘income’ – but also at a higher rate since I was now in a higher bracket (which I have not been in since). So it’s not just double taxation of what the dead person owns, it’s taxing it a third time for the new owner. This is CLEARLY wrong. It DOES hurt ordinary people.

Then I have to think, what are they doing with the money they take in taxes? Is it helping resolve the many murder cases? Is it paying down debt? No, we are now funding abortions (more murdering) and promoting deviant lifestyles – it’s very sickening.

This is just another litmus test – any politician voting FOR the death tax reinstatement should be voted out of office (THROWN out is better, but voted out is possible).

Now to conclude my point, the government got half the money from my brother’s estate – I couldn’t spend it (with a business who would either keep people employed or hire additional ones to grow their business) – less money for any ‘non-governmental’ business. If the person dying is a business owner, and the kids or whomever is set to ‘continue’ that business after the owner’s death has to pay these taxes on the business (again – they’ve been paid as long as the owner is alive), they may be forced to a) sell or b) reduce their capability – or c) just shut it down . . . job losses in scenario’s b & c, and probably some consolidation of jobs in a (new owner is probably someone already in the business just looking to extend his customer list).

It’s not a bad question, but it takes understanding and not a snippet answer . . . if you want to ‘kill’ something – just tax it . . . SOME taxes are necessary, but certainly we can agree it’s way too much at this point. I agree with the comment that suggests cutting spending is the real key, but keeping ‘income’ low is a part of it – they WILL spend every penny they get, and most of that will be spent unwisely. Unfortunately, there are not too many Americans today who will vote for wisdom and responsibility – and there are even fewer candidates with the character and know how to operate that way . . . we need more candidates like Jim and more voters like Alan B.

Thank you Jim, for standing firm on your principles! It gives me a bit of hope. I have never felt so negative about the future of this country. I am afraid it is already too late, but hopefully we can send a message in November, and turn things around. Tell the Republican leadership to start being more vocal about what is really going on in the government.
